South Africa lift maiden U19 World Cup title

South Africa beat Pakistan by six wickets to win the Under 19 Cricket World Cup in Dubai on Saturday.

South Africa chased down a small target of 132 in 42.1 overs with six wickets to spare.

Aiden Markram struck 66 and Greg Oldfield made 40 to guide South Africa to a comfortable victory.

Earlier, Corbin Bosch (4/15), Yaseen Valli (2/19) and Justin Dill (2/39) took eight wickets between them to bundle out Pakistan for 131.

Pakistan was relying heavily on openers Sami Aslam and Imam ul Haq to replicate their supreme batting form in the final. But the duo fell early today, triggering a familiar collapse.

At one stage, Pakistan were 72/6, but Amad Butt (37) and Zafar Gohar (22), who had helped Pakistan reach the final, put up some fight in the middle overs to give some respectability to the total.
