Tigers throw away first ODI against Lions

Al-Amin Hossain was the last Tiger to carelessly y threw his wicket to the Lions as Bnagladesh conceded the first ODI to Sri Lanka from a vantage position. This was the third run out in the innings, illustrating the careless batting displayed by the Tigers.

Skipper Mushfiqur Rahim threw away his wicket as  the 9th one  when he tried a scoop shot and caught behind the wicket.

The captain followed the "harakiri" style of his fellow batsmen to sink his team.

Arafat Sunny was the eighth batsman to get out when he sneaked one to Lankan keeper Sangakkara in the bowling of Lankan skipper Angelo Mathews. Sohag Gazi got out in a way which can be only termed as "suicidal." He got caught with a miscued shot.

Mahmudullah Riyad was out with a sharp close in catch at the first ball he faced. In the previous delivery, Nasir Hossain was caught in sleep with the offspin of Senanayeke. He was the fifth man to be dismissed in the Tigers' inning.

Shamsur Rahman got out after his bat fell from his hand while running between the wickets. Lankan wicketkeeper dislodged the stumps quickly.

Normally in the 50-50 decision the batsman gets the benefit of he doubt, but after a long observation the umpire gave the verdict in favour of the fielding side.

Shamsur was out for 62 off just 49 balls. He scored a brisk fifty of just 43 balls to help his team reach 100. He reached the milestone with a marvelous offside sixer.

Earlier, Mominul Haque got out in the bowling of Thisara Perera with a flashy stroke outside the off stamp. He scored a 44 of 53 deliveries.

He made an impressive partnership of 79 of just 86 balls with Shamsur Rahman after Anamul Haque out for a duck on just the second ball.

Earlier, the Tigers stumped visiting Sri Lanka within 180 all-out after picking eight rapid wickets in the first game of the three-match One Day International series at Mirpur Sher-E-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital on Monday.

The Lankan batting order was collapsed amid ambitious and sensible bowling from the very beginning of the match.

Rubel Hossain and Al-Amin Hossain built the pressure with early wickets and the spinners cashed in later on.

Sri Lanka would have been bundled within 100 but Thisara Perera's terrific tail ending effort by his unbeaten career-best 80.

Sri Lanka managed to score 180 all-out for eight in 40 overs amid tight and sensible fielding performance by host side.

Sri Lanka lost their first wicket in the last ball of the fourth over as Tillakaratne Dilshan pulled a short length delivery off Rubel Hossain, but missed to guide it properly, and Skipper Mushfiqur Rahim caught it midwicket.

Rubel thumped again in the sixth over picking up Kushal Perera. He scored 20 off 18 balls.

Al-Amin Hossain got the crucial wicket of Kumar Sangakara. The veteran Lankan batsman offered a simple catch to Arafat Sunny at mid-off scoring only 8 runs.

Ashan Priyanjan was the next to depart, falling leg before off a Shakib delivery for 6.

Dinesh Chandimal's stay at the crease was ended by a run-out as a mix-up with Angelo Mathews left him stranded at the non-striking end when he was on 13.

Lankan skipper Mathews managed to score just 3 runs off 15 balls. It was the first international wicket of debutant Arafat Sunny.

Sunny also picked up Nuwan Kulasekara back to the pavilion with a duck.

Earlier in match, Bangladesh won the toss and sent the Lankans to bat first. The match was cut by 7 overs due to rain.
