Shakib fails to break the jinx of 50

Ace Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan threw his wicket away after reaching 50 once again, lobbing one straight to Karunaratne at coverof a flighted Perera delivery.

It was a huge breakthrough for Sri Lanka given how well Shakib had been batting just before he drove the first ball of the 97th over of the Bangladesh innings to one of the men stationed in the short cover area by Lankan skipper Angelo Mathews.

Karunaratne made no mistake in taking sharp catch of Shakib, who had played some wonderful drives and late cuts in his 50 of 89 deliveries that featured nine fours.

Bangladesh is chasing Sri Lanka’s mammoth 587-run first inning total on the third day of the second test of the series in Chittagong.

Nasir Hossain and Mahmudullah are currently at the pitch trying to safely see off the remaining overs of the day.
