Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hasan is scheduled to return to the country after attending the crucial ICC Board meeting today. His return will be marked with the question whether the decisions were unanimously supported or not.
Interestingly, the ICC statement stated that the meetings concluded in Dubai with unanimous support for a set of principles relating to the future structure, governance and financial models of the ICC which were put forward by the “Big Three” boards. The proposal will now come up for discussion next month.
While the “Position Paper” was not tabled and exact percentage of revenue sharing was also not revealed, the decisions taken certainly made BCCI along with England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and Cricket Australia (CA) happy as they at least passively stamped their authority.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has refuted the International Cricket Council‘s (ICC) claim that a radical plan to alter power equations in favour of India, England and Australia has been “unanimously supported” by the governing body’s members, stating that it was yet to make up its mind on the matter.
In a press release issued after the ICC’s Board meeting in Dubai, the PCB said no decision has been taken with regard to proposed changes in the ICC’s power structure as per the “Position Paper” submitted by the cricket boards of India, Australia and England. The PCB clearly stated at the meeting that the guiding principles were subject to PCB’s Governing Board’s approval.
One of the first to oppose a proposed revamp of the International Cricket Council’s (ICC‘s) administrative structure, Cricket South Africa (CSA) has denied the governing body’s claim that there was “unanimous support” for “key principles” of the plan which would cede executive decision-making to India, Australia and England.
“The support is subject to the approval of the respective boards of the member countries after which a final decision will be taken at a follow-up ICC board meeting on February 8,” CSA said in a statement.
