T20: Pakistan's Bangladesh trip in doubt

Pakistan’s participation in the T-20 World Cup and the Asia Cup, to be held in Bangladesh in 2014, is in jeopardy centring two major issues -- the hanging of Jamaat-e-Islami leader Quader Molla for his war crimes and the resolution passed by the National Assembly of Pakistan.

The PCB chairman Najam Sethi has conveyed his reservation to ICC in Dubai about Pakistan travelling to Bangladesh under such circumstances.

Pakistani newspaper -- The News – carried a report on Thursday.

The report says: “The current political events in Bangladesh, such as the hanging of the Jamaat-e-Islami leader for war crimes and the a resolution passed by the National Assembly of Pakistan against it, has put a big question mark on Pakistan’s participation in the two major events.”

Now it is up to the ICC and ACC to examine the scenario and decide if the situation is right in to hold such an event in Bangladesh, adds the report.

Earlier, the West-Indies U-19 had to abandon their tour halfway after bomb blasts in Chittagong.
