The second One Day International cricket match between under-19 squads of Bangladesh and West Indies was postponed to Tuesday.
The match was scheduled to be held at Chittagong's Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium (ZACS) Sunday morning. The venue for third match in the port city was also changed.
Officials said the deferral was made because the West Indies team were “feeling insecure” after crude bombs blasted near their hotel Saturday night.
The incident took place during a nationwide blockade programme of the BNP-led 18-party alliance.
“Few crude bombs exploded near their Hotel Agrabad last night,” Bangladesh Cricket Board Director AZM Nasiruddin told the Dhaka Tribune.
“Because of that, they did not want to play this morning. We have postponed today’s match. It will be held at the same venue tomorrow (Monday) 9:30am.”
“The third match was supposed to be held at MA Aziz Stadium. The venue is near to a local BNP office so we have changed the venue for that match to Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium,” said the BCB director.
The under-19 West Indies team is in Bangladesh to play six One Day International matches against the hosts.
The third match will be held on December 11.
