The Islami Bank Indoor Corporate Cricket 2013 kicked-off with a dazzling opening ceremony at Mirpur’s Shaheed Sohrawardi Indoor Stadium yesterday.
Sixteen corporate houses of the country will participate in the three-day tournament.
Divided into four groups, they will battle it out in the tournament for the championship title worth Tk500,000. The teams will get to play three games each in the group stage and the top two sides from each group will move to the next phase of the tournament.
The 3 Crics, who earlier gained huge recognition after holding the indoor university cricket in Bangladesh is the oraganiser of the tournament.
Renowned Bollywood singer Monali Thakur’s performance was the main attraction in the opening ceremony. Chief guest of the ceremony Mohammed Shamsul Hauqe, Managing Director (current charge) Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited inaugurated the tournament. IH Mallick, Director, Bangladesh Cricket Board was present in the ceremony along with several leading officials from the different oganisations participating in the tournament.
AB Bank, Trust Bank, Rangs Group, Grameenphone, Uttara Finance, Dhaka Tribune, Suvastu Development, Computer Source, Acme, Bangla Lion, Novo Com, Robi, Gazi Group, Partex and Akiz Group will participate in the inaugural edition of the event.
Co-sponsored by Akiz Ceramics, Clemon, AB Bank, Ispahani and Bangla Lion the tournament has GTV and Dhaka Tribune as media partners. All the matches will be televised live on GTV.
