T20 face-off in the afternoon

Bangladesh will look to take on New Zealand in the only Twenty20 match at Mirpur on Wednesday with high-flying spirits after a 3-0 whitewash.

The match will begin at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at 1:30pm.

This will be the first T20 match Bangladesh will play against New Zealand on home ground.

Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal, who has been ruled out with a stomach strain, is expected to sit out this match. Skipper Mushfiqur Rahim had hinted that a debutant might take his place.

Meanwhile, former captain Shakib Al Hasan has been out because of Dengue fever.

The Tigers will look to set straight their “horrible” T20 record, six defeats in last seven matches including those to the Netherlands and Scotland, with the confidence gained from one day series.

Meanwhile, for the Kiwis, the T20 win might provide some solace after having drawn the Test series and being whitewashed in the ODIs.
