Tamim Iqbal played the first two ODI matches against New Zealand despite suffering lower abdomen pain but an MRI scan yesterday has put the dashing opener in doubt for the third match tomorrow.
The 24-year old played the first two matches on pain killers. Yesterday, he complained the condition has gotten worse and underwent an MRI. The report will likely come out today.
If the report reveals anything potentially serious, Tamim will likely miss the third and final ODI of the series against New Zealand on Sunday, in which the hosts will look to complete back-to-back series whitewashes over the Kiwis.
The manager of the Bangladesh cricket team Akram Khan, however, was not in a hurry to rule Tamim out. “There was some problem on Thursday so we have done his MRI today (yesterday). So far, we have not received the medical report and only after seeing the report will we know his exact condition,” he said.
Tamim scored his 25th ODI half-century in the second ODI on Thursday and in the process, became Bangladesh’s leading scorer in that format of the game.
