Bangladesh left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman is set to feature for Melbourne Renegades in Australia's Big Bash League (BBL), potentially becoming the latest Bangladeshi cricketer to take part in the tournament.
Mustafizur, popularly known as the “Cutter Master” for his deceptive variations, has sought a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to play in the Australian T20 competition.
BCB president Tamim Iqbal confirmed the development to reporters on Monday during the auction for the domestic D3 tournament, saying both Mustafizur and leg-spinner Rishad Hossain had applied for NOCs to play in the BBL.
Tamim also indicated a positive stance towards granting the duo permission to participate in the tournament.
Rishad, meanwhile, is set to return to Hobart Hurricanes after featuring for the franchise in the previous edition of the BBL.
The leg-spinner made an impression during his stint with Hobart last season, paving the way for another Bangladeshi player to feature in Australia's premier domestic T20 competition.
