Abahani Limited ended a run of seven successive defeats in the Walton Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League by beating Victoria Sporting Club by four wickets at BKSP, Prime Bank CC rode on Brendon Taylor’s stunning 46-ball century to thrash Kalabagan Cricket Academy by 166 runs in Rajshahi and centuries from Usman Tariq and Imrul Kayes led Gazi Tank Cricketers to a crushing nine wicket win over Sheikh Jamal DC in Bogra, which moved Gazi to the top of the table in yesterday’s DPL matches.
Victoria SC v Abahani Ltd
Luke Wright was the hero for Abahani as the traditional giants snapped a seven match losing streak. Winning the toss, Abahani chose to field first and restricted Victoria to 234/8. After a promising 152-run opening stand between Soumya Sarkar (68) and Rasel Al Mamun (76), Victoria’s middle order were unable to push on.
Abahani had to fight hard in their chase, but contributions from Wright and Mosaddek (38) were backed up by an unbeaten 46-run sixth wicket Al Amin and Alauddin was enough to give them the win.
Prime Bank v Kalabagan CA
Prime Bank posted a huge 354 as Brendon Taylor’s 46-ball hundred (14 fours, 3 sixes) was ably supported by Saikat Ali’s 103 and Ravi Bopara’s 79.
In reply, Kalabagan CA bowled were bowled out for 187 in 44.4 overs with Sharif Ullah top scoring with 69.
Sheikh Jamal v Gazi Tank
Despite the absence of skipper Mushfiqur Rahim, Gazi Tank strolled to an easy win over Sheikh Jamal to move to the top of the table with 12 points. Chasing 226, Gazi lost the wicket of Aftab Ahmed but centuries from Imrul and Usman saw them home with 14 overs to spare.
