Bangladesh opener Dilara Akter broke a record that has been held for more than six years to help her side to victory in their tri-series clash against the Netherlands ahead of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup.
Dilara smashed a half-century from just 22 deliveries - the equal ninth fastest ever in women's T20Is - to surpass the previous quickest by a Bangladesh woman from Rumana Ahmed against Pakistan in Lahore in 2019 when she achieved the feat in 28 balls.
It was Dilara's dashing display that proved the difference for Bangladesh as they registered a narrow 13-run triumph in a rain-affected contest at the Grange Cricket Club Ground, with the right-hander's innings of 51 allowing the side to post a respectable total of 98/3 in a match reduced to just eight overs per team.
Left-arm seamer Fariha Trisna collected two wickets for Bangladesh in reply, with the Netherlands only able to muster 85/5 as they fell short of the victory target.
The triumph means Bangladesh finish in second place on the tri-series standings behind eventual winners and hosts Scotland, while the Netherlands finish in third.
The two sides now travel south for the warm-up fixtures ahead of the start of the T20 World Cup on June 12, with Bangladesh to face New Zealand in Loughborough on Sunday and the Netherlands to take on Scotland in Derby a day earlier.
