Bangladesh national team bowling coach Shaun Tait has stepped down from his position due to family reasons, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced Thursday.
According to a BCB statement, Tait had initially expressed his willingness to continue in the role on a reduced schedule after informing the board of his personal circumstances. However, both parties eventually agreed that his resignation was the most appropriate solution.
"The decision has been reached amicably and with mutual understanding," the BCB said.
The departure comes as Bangladesh prepare for a high-profile home white-ball series against Australia later this month.
Sources within the BCB indicated that former Bangladesh fast bowler Talha Jubair is likely to oversee the national team's pace unit on an interim basis during the Australia series.
Tait joined Bangladesh's coaching staff in May last year and played a key role in the development of the country's fast-bowling department. During his tenure, Bangladesh's pace attack made notable progress, with the bowlers showing greater consistency and effectiveness across formats.
The former Australian speedster was also part of a successful period for the Tigers, who registered several significant performances and results during his time with the team.
"It has been a privilege to work with the Bangladesh national team and to be part of a talented and committed group of players and support staff," Tait said.
"This was not an easy decision, and I sincerely appreciate the understanding and support shown by the BCB throughout our discussions. I am proud of what the pace bowlers have achieved and believe they have an exciting future ahead. I wish the team every success going forward."
The BCB thanked Tait for his contributions to Bangladesh cricket and wished him success in his future endeavors.
