Masood: We failed to seize key moments despite early advantage

Pakistan captain Shan Masood admitted that his side failed to capitalize on key moments, a thing that was instrumental in their
thumping 104-run defeat to Bangladesh in the first cricket Test at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium today.

Speaking after the match, Masood reflected on the decision at the toss and Pakistan's overall performance, noting that the conditions initially favoured seam bowling.

"We looked at the conditions and in terms of seam bowling we had the best conditions. We got two early wickets. But in the first innings we didn't capitalize on that and then we didn't capitalize with the bat either," Masood said.

The Pakistan skipper admitted his team fell short in execution during crucial phases of the game.

"We could have pushed for more runs. But in the first innings, with bat and ball, we needed to do better. You can never question the effort, especially when you are playing Test cricket after six months," he added.

Masood praised Bangladesh's ability to seize control in key moments of the game.

"Test cricket on surfaces like this teaches you that when you have the game in your hands you have to push the opposition away, but we failed to do that," he said.

The captain also expressed satisfaction with the performances of Pakistan's debutants--Azan Awais and Abudllah Fazal, despite the team's defeat.

Azan hit a century on debut while Fazal scored fifty plus knock in both innings.

"Extremely pleased with their performance. When we picked them, we picked them seeing potential that they can play at this level," he said.

"Their maturity was great. For them, the thing is can they be consistent in Test cricket? I think they have the potential to do that. When you get opportunities to stamp your authority we have to do that," Masood said.
