New Zealand head coach Rob Walter admits his side faces a tough challenge adapting to Bangladesh’s heat and altered match timings ahead of the upcoming ODI series.
With start times adjusted in line with the government’s energy conservation measures, Walter said conditions will demand swift adjustment from his players.
“It’s obviously different, but we expected that coming here,” Walter told reporters. “A couple of days before the first game is probably not enough to fully get used to the heat. There’s not a lot you can do in that time. It is what it is.”
Despite the limited preparation window, Walter insisted his team must cope professionally.
“We have to overcome these challenges. Handling the heat is one of the key factors if we want to win the series,” he said.
He added that the absence of dew in day matches could shape the contests.
“Without dew, it might be a fairer battle between bat and ball. The pitch could slow down as the day progresses in these conditions,” he noted.
Walter also highlighted Bangladesh’s balanced bowling attack as a major threat, saying New Zealand would adapt their approach based on how conditions unfold during the matches.
