BCB unveils new standing committees

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Tamim Iqbal on Wednesday night announced the chairmen of the board’s new standing committees following a meeting of the ad-hoc executive body.

Tamim assumed charge of the 11-member ad-hoc committee after the previous board led by Aminul Islam Bulbul was dissolved. As part of the restructuring, he confirmed that no individual member would be appointed chairman of the Cricket Operations department.

Instead, Tamim said any matter or inquiry arising from Cricket Operations would be discussed and decided collectively at the board level.

Identifying Cricket Operations as a critical area, the new president said the board is keen to avoid any disruption at a time when it faces a three-month deadline to conduct a credible election.

“The Cricket Operations department is the most important area. We are entrusted to conduct an election within a three-month timeframe, so we felt this is a very sensitive department,” Tamim said.

He also took direct responsibility for two departments — Working and Facilities, and Cricket Operations — underscoring their importance during the interim period.

The newly announced standing committee chairmen are as follows:

Working and Facilities: Tamim Iqbal
Game Development and BPL: Fahim Sinha
Grounds: Rofiqul Islam Babu
Age-Group Cricket: Tanjil Chowdhury
Marketing and Disciplinary: Mirza Salman Ispahani
Women’s Wing, Medical and Complaints: Rashna Imam
Financial and Welfare: Israfil Khosru
Security, Tender and Purchase: Syed Ibrahim Ahmed
Tournament Committee: Minhajul Abedin Nannu
Logistics: Mirza Yasir Abbar
Umpires: Athar Ali Khan

The formation of the standing committees is seen as a key administrative step by the ad-hoc body as it prepares to oversee board operations and steer the BCB towards fresh elections within the stipulated timeframe.
