Women's Rankings: Bangladesh players make ground on latest update

Bangladesh players that have been in good form at the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier have been the big winners on the latest ICC Women's T20I Player Rankings.

The Tigresses are unbeaten at the qualifier event in Nepal and are closing in on earning a spot at the ICC Women's T20 World Cup in England and Wales in the middle of the year.

Bangladesh have received good performances from a range of players at the qualifier, with top-order batter Sharmin Akhter leading the way with 156 runs from four innings to be the second leading run-scorer at the event.

The right-hander has scored a pair of half-centuries at the qualifier against USA and Ireland and improves 22 places to equal 35th overall on the list for T20I batters.

Teammate Sobhana Mostary rises 11 places to move to equal 52nd on the same list following a quartet of good scores, while Ireland captain Gaby Lewis (up one place to equal 15th) and Netherlands star Sterre Kalis (up six rungs to 48th) are among the other players to make gains on the rankings update this week.

It's a similar story on the latest rankings for T20I bowlers, with Bangladesh spinner Rabeya Khan improving one place to move to 14th overall following seven wickets through the first four matches her side has played at the qualifier event.

Bangladesh teammate Fahima Khatun gains six places to move to 30th on the same list.
