Doleshwar juggernaut halted

Victoria Sporting Club crushed in-form Prime Doleshwar by nine wickets at the BKSP-3 ground, Gazi Tank rode on Rakibul Hasan’s 75 to defeat Mohammedan by 103 runs at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra and Prime Bank CC were led by Enamul Haque’s four wicket haul to a 120 run win over Abahani Ltd at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in yesterday’s Walton Dhaka Premier League matches.

Prime Doleshwar v Victoria

Prime Doleshwar skipper Forhad Reza’s decision to bat first went horribly wrong as the in-form side were bowled out for just 85 in 26 overs. SohagGazi top scored with 26 not out while SoumyaSarker and Sri Lankan ShalikaKarunanayake took three wickets for Victoria.

Victoria lost the early wicket of opener Rasel Al Mamun for 5 but eased to the target in 14.3 overs. National player AnamulHaque finished 45 not out and man-of-the-match Karunanayake scored 33 not out to give the defending champions a nine wicket win.

Prime Bank v Abahani

Winning the toss, Prime Bank elected to bat first. With Sri Lankan BhanukaRajapaksa leading the way with 69 from 58 balls (four fours, four sixes), along with handy fifties from opener Saykat Ali (59) and LahiruThiramanne (52), Prime Bank were able to reach 272/9 from their 50 overs.

For Abahnai, TharangaParanavitana took three wickets while ShamsulAlamBabu and left arm spinner Nabil Samadclaimed two each.

Abahani never looked to be in with a chance in their reply and lost wickets at regular intervals to be bundled out for 152 in 35.5 overs, with middle order batsman Al-Amin top scoring with 28.

Man-of-the-match EnamulHaqueJrpicked up four wickets, off spinner Farid Uddin Masud took three and Rezaul Karim bagged two for Prime Bank, who won their fourth match in the league.

Gazi Tank v Mohammedan

Put into bat, Gazi totaled 248/9 on the back of national discard RakibulHasan’s 65-ball 75 (six fours, two sixes) and skipper Mahmudullah’s 68. Sri Lankan spinner AjanthaMendis grabbed four wickets while skipper MashrafeMortazapicked up two for Mohammedan.

Mohammedan stumbled in reply and despite opener Ezaj Ahmed’s 42 and Sri Lankan UpulTharanga’s 56. They were bowled out for 145 in 38.4 overs.

Ashar Zaidi took three wickets while skipper Mahmudullah took two for Gazi, who to registered their fourth win in six matches.
