BCB finally making BPL payments

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) who earlier promised that they would deliver the outstanding payments due to the players of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) claim to be doing just that. Ismail Haider Mollick the secretary of BPL said yesterday at an Iftar party organized by Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metro (CCDM) that the board have started paying the players payment and almost 10-12 players have already received their payment check from the board.

"25% of the payments are ready and some of the checks have already dispatched and almost 10-12 players have received their payments already and rest of them will get their payments after Eid," said Mollick.

The BCB ad-hoc committee member also informed that some of the franchises' have given statements to the BCB and the board has paid the players in question. "The decision was earlier made that we are going to pay 25% of the payment to the players. We are doing the calculations with the franchisees and some of them have already given us the list, we have started giving payment to those players," said Mollick.

He also informed that all the checks are ready but since some of the franchises have yet to submit statements to the board, payments for some of the players will be delivered after Eid.

He added that some of the franchisees have made their foreign and local player's payments directly and the board also needs to know the specifics of those transactions before making remunerations.

Mollick informed that two franchisees have already given the statement to the board but still the BCB need to know the exact statement of all the franchisees and some of them made contracts with the players outside auction. "Rangpur, Rajshahi have already given us the statement - we need to know the exact amount. Some of the franchisees, have given the payment straight to the players, so we need to know that, and some of them have contracted with the players outside the auction," he said.

Mollick was confident that the payments promised by the BCB would be fulfilled. "We are hopeful that almost 50% players will get their payments before Eid and the rest will receive after Eid," he said.

While dealing with payments, the BPL secretary warned that there would be consequences for the franchises who did not fulfill their financial obligations.

"We have already said that those franchisees that will not clear their dues will not be able to take part in the next edition of BPL. Right now BCB is paying the payments of the players as the franchisees have not paid," he said.
