Bangladesh women’s national cricket team departed for South Africa today morning. They are scheduled to play three ODIs along with three T20s against the hosts. Skipper Salma Khatun, however, thought that they did not have enough practice for their 15-day tour to the African nation.
“No, obviously this preparation is not enough. I think that if we could have practiced a bit more it would have been good,” said Salma at the Sher-e- Bangla National Stadium yesterday.
Despite the preparation Salma was confident of adjusting with the South African conditions. She also said, “Their condition suits the pace bowlers more. We have four pacers this time. I am hopeful that the pacers will do well and if the spinners support them it will be good.”
The South Africa women side toured Bangladesh last year where the visitors won the three-match ODI series 2-1 and also clinched the two-match T20 series 2-0. “We got less time to prepare this time, but we did work on our batting and fielding. Hopefully we can do well. If they can play well on our ground we can do the same,” said Salma.
Bangladesh will open their tour with the T20 series on September 12 at the Senwes Park, Potchefstroom while the ODI series will start from September 20 at the Willowmoore Park, Benoni.
