The “Haier Kingbadanti Cricket Carnival, Season-6” concluded with a thrilling final match, where Nawab of Old Dhaka claimed their maiden championship title, defeating Mirpur Kings by eight wickets.
The Facebook-based group “SSC 2000 & HSC 2002 (Amrai Kingbadanti)”, consisting of students from SSC 2000 and HSC 2002 batches, hosted the “Haier Kingbadanti Cricket Carnival, Season-6” for the sixth consecutive year.
The grand tournament came to an exciting conclusion at the Shyamoli Club Cricket ground Saturday.
The “Haier Kingbadanti Cricket Carnival” has set a remarkable benchmark in Bangladesh’s tape tennis cricket history.
In the much-anticipated final, Mirpur Kings batted first and posted a formidable total of 252 runs in 20 overs.
However, Nawab of Old Dhaka chased down the target in 17.3 overs, securing victory with eight wickets in hand.
The Man of the Match was RN Suman from Nawab of Old Dhaka, who played a stunning knock of 136 runs off 47 balls, playing a crucial role in his team’s victory.
The Player of the Tournament and Best Batsman was Jamil Khandaker from Nawab of Old Dhaka.
The Best Bowler award went to Suman Saha from Chattogram Wizard, while the Best Fielder award was claimed by Imran Hossain, the wicket-keeper from Chattogram Wizard.
The Fair Play Trophy was awarded to Mirpur Kings, the runner-up team.
This year’s champion team, Nawab of Old Dhaka, received an attractive trophy along with a cash prize of Tk500,000, while the runner-up team, Mirpur Kings, received Tk200,000.
Each participating team was also awarded honorary prizes.
The prize distribution ceremony was graced by notable guests.
The chief guest was former Bangladesh national team cricketer Sanwar Hossain.
Special guests included Wang Xiangjing, deputy managing director of Haier Bangladesh Limited, Md Nur Nabi Chowdhury Raju, director of Mother and Child General Hospital, and Md Nazmul Hossain Bhuian, group admin.
The tournament began on January 3, 2025, with 15 teams competing in three groups.
According to the organizers, “Haier Kingbadanti Cricket Carnival, Season-6” stands as the most exciting and highest prize money tape tennis tournament in Bangladesh's history.
The online platform “SSC 2000 & HSC 2002 (Amrai Kingbadanti)” was founded on November 15, 2017, and has now grown into a strong family of 52,000 members.
To accelerate its humanitarian efforts, the group officially registered “Amrai Kingbadanti Foundation” on September 5, 2019, under the Registrar of Joint Stock Companies & Firms.
This group has always been committed to social responsibility, taking part in various initiatives such as nationwide cleanliness and public awareness campaigns, supporting children with disabilities, free health camps, distributing winter clothes, essential items, and food to underprivileged communities, medical support and food assistance in old age homes, and blood donation drives.
The members are now planning to extend their humanitarian activities further, ensuring medical aid and other fundamental services for underprivileged individuals across Bangladesh.
