Asif: Online ticketing system, good pitches success stories of this BPL

Sports and Youth adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan said despite some irregularities, the standard of the Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 2024-25 season was better than the previous years - if only the field activities are taken into consideration.

He pointed out online ticket selling system and behavior of the pitches, which led to high-scoring matches, as the success stories of this BPL.

"There were irregularities for which there was criticism. But on the field, the BPL's standard was better than the previous years," the sports adviser said at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur Saturday.

"Firstly, I will talk about online ticketing system. It was great and made things easier for the general people. Therefore we have seen packed stadium in almost every game. I want Bangladesh Cricket Board to continue this system. I also want BCB to sell 80% tickets through online."

He said he has never seen such type of good wickets in Mirpur in the past, a thing that he termed as a shining success of this BPL.

"The wickets were really good. I can't remember if I have seen such sort of good wickets in Mirpur earlier. Almost every match was high-scoring, so that was entertaining for the mass people. I hope BCB continues to play on such kind of wickets in future too," he said.

The adviser further said he wants the country’s cricket regulatory body to reform the constitution as early as possible, and also take action against those who were involved in corruption.

"When I came here, I asked BCB to reform the board as we want to build a new Bangladesh and take action against the corrupted people. The BCB is working on it and very soon we'll materialize those issues," he added.
