Unstoppable Rangpur win eight in a row

It seems there is simply no stopping Rangpur Riders as the only unbeaten side left so far in the Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 2024-25 season notched their eighth win in succession, this time by 33 runs against Chittagong Kings in Chittagong’s Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium Friday.

In contrast, Chittagong dropped to third position in the points table after their second defeat in half a dozen matches.

Pakistan all-rounder Khushdil Shah continued his purple patch in the tournament as he struck a 28-ball 59 to propel Rangpur to 164/7 after the Riders were asked to bat first.

Khushdil hit seven sixes and a couple of fours.

American opener Steven Taylor chipped in with 39. 

Aliss Al Islam and Mohammad Wasim bagged two wickets each for the home side.

In reply, the port city outfit were restricted to 131/8 with Shamim Hossain top-scoring with 38. 

Opener Parvez Hossain Emon (26) and English recruit Graham Clark (23) got off to starts but could not prolong their stay at the crease. 

Pakistani seamer Akif Javed was the wrecker in chief for Rangpur with four scalps while player of the match Khushdil picked up a couple.

Rangpur Riders 164/7 (Khushdil 59, Taylor 39) beat Chittagong Kings 131/8 (Shamim 38, Javed 4/32) by 33 runs
