Former Bangladesh captain Naimur Rahman Durjoy has resigned from his post as Bangladesh Cricket Board director.
Naimur, who was a Member of Parliament of the fallen Awami League government, has submitted his resignation to BCB chief executive officer Nizamuddin Chowdhury.
Naimur confirmed his resignation while speaking to a news outlet.
Former Bangladesh cricketer Naimur like many other BCB directors have been in hiding since the fall of Sheikh Hasina regime following mass protests last month.
Naimur is the first BCB director to resign at will.
The decision has come on the back of an Anti-Corruption Commission investigation against several individuals, including Naimur.
The ACC has received allegations of money laundering, irregularities in government projects, and the accumulation of illegal assets both domestically and abroad against the individuals.
The investigation is based on information gathered by the ACC's intelligence unit.
“I have resigned from the BCB due to personal reasons. I have submitted my resignation addressing BCB CEO,” said Naimur, who was chairman of BCB High Performance Unit, to the media Wednesday.
Since the fall of Sheikh Hasina government, Nazmul Hasan stepped down as BCB president while Shafiul Alam Chowdhury resigned as chairman of BCB's women’s wing.
The duo however, did not resign as BCB directors.
Jalal Younus, who had come to the BCB with National Sports Council nomination, resigned last month as BCB director following appeal from NSC.
Veteran sports organizer Ahmed Sajjadul Alam Bobby had also come through NSC but he refused to resign and was later removed by the sports council.
In place of Jalal and Sajjadul - Faruk Ahmed and Nazmul Abedeen Fahim made their way to the BCB as directors before Faruk emerged as the new BCB president on August 21 to end Nazmul’s long tenure as BCB chief.
