Mustafizur Rahman continued to shine in the 2024 Indian Premier League as his side Chennai Super Kings recorded a facile seven-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders in Chennai Monday.
Asked to bat first, Kolkata posted 137 for the loss of nine wickets with the Bangladesh left-arm paceman returning 2/22 from his four overs, before Chennai romped home within 18 overs.
The Fizz snared the wickets of KKR captain Shreyas Iyer and Mitchell Starc with Iyer departing after Ravindra Jadeja took his 100th IPL catch and Starc going back to the pavilion following a Rachin Ravindra catch.
This was the fifth occasion this season that the New Zealander grabbed a catch off the bowling of Mustafizur, who now has nine wickets in four matches.
CSK veteran Jadeja later praised the inspiring bowling display by the Fizz, who could have also accounted for the wicket of the dangerous Andre Russell had the West Indian big-hitter not been dropped by Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
The otherwise destructive Russell had a lot of difficulty reading Mustafizur’s deliveries, which included change in pace and cutters.
