Sylhet Strikers continued their miserable 2024 Bangladesh Premier League campaign as they conceded a fifth consecutive defeat, this time by 49 runs against Fortune Barishal in Sylhet Tuesday.
Last season’s finalist, Sylhet kept on changing their playing XI, rotating the local and foreign players, but nothing seems to be working for the Strikers, who are at the bottom as the only winless side in the seven-team competition.
Barishal in contrast breathed life into their campaign with a second victory in five matches.
Asked to bat first, Barishal posted a competitive 186 losing half their side, thanks to half centuries from Ahmed Shehzad (66) and the unbeaten Mahmudullah (51).
Benny Howell bagged three wickets for the Strikers.
In reply, Sylhet lost wickets at regular intervals before eventually getting bundled out for 137 in 17.3 overs, with Zakir Hasan scoring the highest 46.
Mohammad Imran took three scalps for Barishal.
