Young Tigers top group to set up India semi in U19 Asia Cup

Bangladesh set up a semi-final clash with neighbors India in the Under-19 Asia Cup after making it three wins out of three to top Group B, sending Sri Lanka out of the competition with a six-wicket victory in Dubai Wednesday.

It was the hosts United Arab Emirates who advanced from Pool B as runners-up and will now face Pakistan in Friday’s semi-finals.

In-form opener Ashiqur Rahman Shibli struck an unbeaten 130-ball 116 to guide the young Tigers to their target in 40.5 overs, hammering 11 fours and two sixes in his knock.

The wicketkeeper-batter continued his purple patch in the tournament after clubbing 55 not out and 71 in the previous matches.

Wasi Siddique earlier took 3/32 and captain Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby and Maruf Mridha two each to help restrict the Lankans to 200/9 upon bowling first.
