Tamim sees spine specialist in London, undergoes pain management procedure

Bangladesh One Day International captain Tamim Iqbal, who has been dogged by persistent back pain, has seen a spine specialist in London and underwent invasive pain management procedure Thursday.

The left-handed batter will now be under observation for the next two days before being reassessed to determine the outcome of the procedure.

Bangladesh Cricket Board's senior physician Dr Debashis Chowdhury, who has accompanied the player to the UK, provided the update on his condition.

In normal circumstances, people with back pain recover in time after such treatment with proper rest but the challenge will be when Tamim returns to the field.

The opening batsman will get a few weeks' time to recuperate before training starts for the Asia Cup, scheduled to get underway on August 30.

Tamim is doing well at the moment but intensity will be high when he is back on the field so time will tell how effective this treatment has been.
