Bangladesh middle-order batter Towhid Hridoy is set to play for Jaffna Kings in the Lanka Premier League 2023 scheduled to begin later this month.
Hridoy however, will be with defending champions Jaffna for only the first six games of the season as replacement of veteran Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik.
The opportunity is the first for Hridoy in an overseas Twenty20 league.
Malik is currently participating in the ongoing Global T20 League in Canada and will join Jaffna on August 8.
As a replacement to the Pakistan cricketer, Hridoy will get at least six games to feature for the LPL side.
“I have confirmed my availability with Jaffna and the board [Bangladesh Cricket Board] has already issued me the No Objection Certificate. If everything is on track, I am scheduled to travel to Colombo Friday [July 28],” said Hridoy to Dhaka Tribune Monday.
LPL will raise the curtain to its fourth edition next Sunday with Jaffna taking on Colombo Strikers in the opening game at R Premadasa Stadium.
On the other hand, Bangladesh speedster Taskin Ahmed has received an offer from Dambulla Aura.
His participation with the LPL franchise is uncertain though as the BCB is yet to make a decision on the NoC.
Taskin is currently in Zimbabwe playing for Bulawayo Braves in the ongoing Zim-Afro T10 League.
