Bangladesh U-19 team continued their winning run in the ACC U-19 Asia Cup 2021 as they beat Kuwait by 222 runs in their second match of Group B.
The young Tigers posted a big score of 291 in 49.2 overs thanks to a brilliant ton from opener Mahfijul Islam before a combined bowling performance bundled out the opponent for just 69 runs in 25.3 overs at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
After losing the toss, Bangladesh lost opener Iftakher Hossain when the score was only three, but Mahfijul and Aich Mollah added 84 runs before the latter was dismissed for 20.
Mahfijul, who held one side of the wicket, made another half century partnership with Ariful Islam (23) and added 44 with Tahjibul Islam (25) en route to reaching his century.
However, after scoring 112 runs Mahfijul got out in the 36th over when the score was 197.
He played 119 balls, hitting a dozen fours and four sixes.
SM Meherob played a quickfire 42-run innings to take the score close to 300.
In reply Kuwait got off to a poor start as they lost their first three wickets with just seven runs on the board.
The fall of wickets were regular as they were reduced to 33/6 at one stage.
Kuwaiti captain and opener Meet Bhavsar scored highest 43.
Ripon Mondol took highest three wickets for Bangladesh conceding just 10 runs.
Bangladesh made a brilliant start in the tournament as they beat Nepal by 154 runs in the first match at the same venue Friday.
Bangladesh will play Sri Lanka in their last group stage match Monday.
In the other match of the day, Pakistan beat arch-rivals India by two wickets.
Batting first, India scored 237 all out in 49 overs.
Aaradhya Yadav scored highest 50 off 83 balls.
Harronor Singh made 46 opening the batting.
Zeeshan Zameer was the pick of the bowlers with five wickets for 60 runs.
In reply, Pakistan won the pulsating match in the last ball.
Muhammad Shahzad scored highest 81 batting at No 3.
Raj Bawa got four wickets for India.
