BCB invites new franchise owners for BPL's special edition

Bangladesh Cricket Board Monday invited Expression of Interest from reputed business houses for ownership rights of six franchises for the Bangladesh Premier League T20.

BCB took to their website to float the EOI for the franchise-based T20 tournament of the country.

According to the EOI, the eighth edition of the BPL will be a special edition to mark the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

This edition has been named Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League T20.

It is understood that a few of the old franchises of the tournament have already shown interest to own the rights of the tournament this year which will be a "pilot project".

The BPL T20 governing council following the season will review the teams and revise the regulations, if need be, before awarding long-term rights to the same team owners.

The eighth edition of the tournament is tentatively scheduled to take place between January 20 to February 20, 2022.
