Tamim announces retirement from international cricket

Bangladesh opening batsman Tamim Iqbal has announced his retirement from international cricket.

The 34-year old said this to the media in Chittagong a day after the first one-day international against Afghanistan.

“Today right at this moment I'm retiring from international cricket,” said the left-handed batter, who in the process also brought to an end his tenure as the Tigers' ODI captain.

“As I begin this new chapter of my life, I want everyone's prayers. Thank you.”
