New Zealand delegation satisfied with Sylhet facilities

A four-member New Zealand Cricket delegation team is in Bangladesh to scrutinize facilities for their scheduled tour in September for a three-match one-day international series.

The NZC team Wednesday visited Sylhet International Stadium, the probable venue for the series.

New Zealand despite many tours of Bangladesh have never played in Sylhet.

The delegation team comprises NZC security advisor Reg Dickson, security head Greg Main, Evan Jones from NZ Cricket Players' Association and logistics manager Ryan Muller.

Bangladesh Cricket Board's cricket operations committee manager Shahriar Nafees informed that the visitors are happy with the facilities in Sylhet and looking forward to host the tourists at the picturesque venue.

“They [NZC delegation] has come to inspect the venues. We are yet to confirm the venues for the series but planning to play in Sylhet. So far, they have been positive with the facilities in Sylhet. They will of course get better facilities once they confirm. Bangladesh has always been a good host and we strongly look to maintain that,” said Shahriar to the media.

The three-match series is slated to take place following the Asia Cup 2023, the schedule of which is in jeopardy however, due to political tension between Board of Control for Cricket in India and Pakistan Cricket Board.

The three ODIs will be part of the preparation for the two teams ahead of the 2023 World Cup in India in October-November.
