Bangladesh team in Sylhet sans Shakib, Liton and Mustafizur

Bangladesh national cricket team travelled to Sylhet Wednesday for a three-day camp ahead of their series against Ireland in England next month.

Alongside the squad for the forthcoming tour, a good number of cricketers who are in the national set-up will also participate in the intense training sessions during the short camp to be held at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

Three prominent cricketers of the team, in the shape of Shakib al Hasan, Liton Das and Mustafizur Rahman, however, will not be part of the camp.

Star all-rounder Shakib is currently in USA with the family and likely to join the team directly in England.

Shakib is set to join the team in London for the series comprising three one-day internationals against the Irish.

The games are part of the ODI Super League and will be held in Chelmsford, home ground of Essex, on May 9, 12 and 14 respectively.

The status is the same for both Liton and Mustafizur.

The duo will join the Bangladesh team in London following stints with their respective teams in the ongoing Indian Premier League Twenty20.

Liton is featuring for Kolkata Knight Riders with Mustafizur at Delhi Capitals but neither are regular playing XI members.

Bangladesh team are scheduled to depart for England in the early hours of May 1.

The series for Bangladesh is not of importance in terms of points in the Super League.

Bangladesh have already qualified for the World Cup 2023, set to take place in India in October-November.

However, for Ireland a 3-0 series sweep will get them 30 points and direct qualification for the World Cup at South Africa's expense.

Anything other than a 3-0 whitewash and Ireland will have to play the qualifiers in June this year.
