Opener Liton Das has emerged as the fastest Bangladeshi to hit a Twenty20 international fifty.
The right-handed batter reached the feat in the second match of the three-T20I series against Ireland in Chittagong's Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium Wednesday.
Liton recorded the achievement with a single in the fifth over of the innings, reaching 50 in just 18 balls, surpassing Mohammad Ashraful, who previously held the record.
Ashraful required 20 balls for his half century against the West Indies in Johannesburg in 2007.
Liton, who made 83 off 41 deliveries before being dismissed, holds the third fastest record as well.
The Bangladesh batter raced to a 21-ball fifty against India in the T20 World Cup in Australia last year.
