Shakib leaves PSL to attend family emergency

Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib al Hasan was forced to leave his Pakistan Super League side Peshawar Zalmi for the USA to attend a family emergency.

Peshawar will be in action against Quetta Gladiators later Monday in their third match of the season and Shakib has already been replaced by Afghanistan all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai.

“I have to temporarily leave the PSL 8 to attend an important personal matter. I know I have a strong fan base here and I was looking forward to playing all the matches in front of all the fans. But no need to be disappointed as I will be back at some stage during the second half of the competition to play my part in Peshawar's campaign to reclaim the title,” Shakib said in a Pakistan Cricket Board media release.

Zalmi have so far won one and lost one, and expecting the Bangladesh all-rounder to return for the playoffs in case they qualify.

Peshawar included Shakib as their reserved supplementary pick.
