Malik reaches 500th T20 landmark in Mirpur

Veteran Pakistani all-rounder Shoaib Malik reached an eye-catching milestone in his illustrious career as he played his 500th Twenty20 match when he featured for Rangpur Riders against Dhaka Dominators in their Bangladesh Premier League match in Mirpur's Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium Friday.

Malik made his T20 debut for Sialkot Stallions against Lahore Eagles back in 2005.

As captain, Malik scored 39 runs in that match and took two wickets.

The 41-year old has played for as many as 27 teams in his glittering T20 career across the globe, and won numerous trophies.

After his 500th match in 20-over format, Malik has 12,287 runs with a strike rate of 127.44 and average of 36.03.


Malik scored 75 half-centuries in T20s thus far, and smashed 383 sixes and 959 boundaries.

He also bagged 162 wickets with economy of 7.01, and his best bowling figure reads 5/13.

Malik is the third player in the history of T20 cricket to have played 500 or more matches as the other two are Kieron Pollard (614) and Dwayne Bravo (556).

The former Pakistan captain also played 124 T20Is for Pakistan and scored 2,435 runs with a strike rate of 125.64.
