Sylhet were convincing winners while Dhaka Metropolis edged past Khulna as the first round of matches in the National Cricket League concluded Thursday at different venues.
In the other two games, Barishal and Rajshahi played out a draw while Dhaka had already secured a comprehensive innings and 62-run win against Rangpur on day two last Tuesday.
Tier 1
Sylhet beat Chattogram by nine wickets at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in the port city.
Resuming on their overnight second innings total of 169/4, the home side added only 52 runs for the loss of their remaining six wickets.
Chasing a small target of 51, Sylhet romped home in 7.5 overs.
Chattogram went behind in the game from the very beginning after being dismissed for just 141 in their first innings, to which Sylhet replied with 312.
Tier 2
Dhaka Metro defeated Khulna by two wickets at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna.
Resuming on 126/6 chasing 167, the visiting side lost two more wickets in a nervy finish before eventually reaching their destination in the 70th over.
In a low-scoring encounter, the home side had posted 131 in their first innings, following which the tourists registered 156 on the board.
Khulna then put on 191 in their second innings as none of the two sides were able to reach the 200-run mark.
In the other game at Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi, Barishal and Rajshahi drew after the entire third day’s play was washed out.
Resuming on their day two score of 186/6, the home team lost their remaining four wickets for 45 runs to give the visitors a first innings lead of 50.
In their second innings, Barishal posted 71 runs losing half their side before umpires signalled the end of day four’s play as the two sides had to be content with a share of the spoils.
