Bangladesh will be looking to follow their process instead of focusing on result when they take on Pakistan in the T20I tri-nation series opener Friday at Hagley Oval in Christchurch.
The match starts at 8am and T Sports will telecast it live.
Ahead of their opening game of the tri-series, vice captain Nurul Hasan said they are keen to stick to their recent process which will stand them in good stead for the future.
Bangladesh have had a forgetful year in the shortest format of the game and expectations are low for the upcoming Twenty20 World Cup in Australia.
"I think we should not worry about the result, rather we should follow the process," said wicketkeeper-batter Nurul.
"If we work honestly and play as a team and put the team first, it will be beneficial for us. We need to play without focusing on individual performances and we should play our roles according to the situation. All 11 players will not perform on the same day. We are focusing on these aspects.
"We will be playing a few matches in these conditions before going to Australia and that too against teams like New Zealand and Pakistan, which is really good for us. Because this will certainly be a boost in the T20 World Cup.
"If we can take positives from this series in the T20 World Cup, we can expect something good."
Regular skipper Shakib al Hasan was set to join the side yesterday, right on the eve of the tournament opener.
Shakib’s arrival got delayed by a couple of days due to technicalities related to transit visa.
The ace all-rounder missed Bangladesh’s recent two-match T20I series against hosts United Arab Emirates due to his Caribbean Premier League T20 stint in the West Indies for Guyana Amazon Warriors.
Putting aside Shakib’s absence, the team management feels the 2-0 series win against the Emiratis has created a winning culture, something that will help the Tigers in the tri-series – Bangladesh’s final preparation before the mega event.
Bangladesh though do not have the best of records against Pakistan, with the former winning just two of their 13 T20Is.
The Tigers were whitewashed 3-0 in Mirpur last year and also given the current state of the two teams, Pakistan will start as favourites.
The men in red and green have played a total of 135 T20Is, winning 47, losing 85 with the other three games ending in no result.
Pakistan, in contrast, will look to in-form batters Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan to provide the fireworks at the top.
They recently contested a seven-match T20I series at home against England, losing 4-3.
