Tigers to leave Friday for tri-series, T20 WC

Bangladesh cricket team will fly off to New Zealand Friday for a tri-nation T20I series against the hosts and Pakistan which will be the Tigers’ final preparation for next month’s Twenty20 World Cup.

Captain Shakib al Hasan will join the side in New Zealand after his Caribbean Premier League T20 stint ended with Guyana Amazon Warriors.

The Tigers will directly travel to Australia for the eighth edition of the T20 World Cup.

The touring party to New Zealand will not be accompanied by any Bangladesh Cricket Board director but cricket operations committee chairman Jalal Younus and chief selector Minhajul Abedin will join the team Down Under.

Bangladesh, having recently swept United Arab Emirates in a two-match T20I series, will take on New Zealand and Pakistan twice before the final.

The Tigers will lock horns with the runners-up side of Group A (first round) on October 24 in their opening game in Hobart.

They will then play against South Africa and the Group B champions in Sydney and Gabba, Brisbane on October 27 and 30 respectively.
