Taijul takes five as Bangladesh dismiss WI for 178

Bangladesh left-arm spinner Taijul Islam bagged his maiden ODI five-for as the West Indies were all out for 178 in 48.4 overs in the third and final ODI in Guyana Saturday.

Taijul finished with career best ODI figure of 5/28 from his quota of 10 overs while left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed and left-arm seamer Mustafizur Rahman took two apiece as the Windies continued their struggles against the Tigers in 50-over cricket.

Off-spinner Mosaddek Hossain also chipped in with valuable support, conceding only 23 runs from his 10 overs, and picking up one wicket.

Bangladesh spinners bowled 39.4 overs – the most by any team in an ODI in the Caribbean – after captain Tamim Iqbal once again won the toss and invited the Windies to bat first for the third time in succession.

Nicholas Pooran top-scored with 73 as the West Indies bid to stop Bangladesh from registering a series sweep and a 11th consecutive ODI win against the Caribbean side.

The Tigers made one change from the second ODI with Taijul replacing left-arm seamer Shariful Islam.

The Windies also made one alteration with Kyle Mayers making way for Keacy Carty.

The tourists have an unassailable 2-0 lead after convincingly winning the first and second ODI by six and nine wickets respectively.
