T Sports to telecast second Test

Bangladesh-based sports channel T Sports is set to telecast the remaining matches of Bangladesh tour of West Indies. The only sports-based channel of the country came to the decision after settling dispute with in the consortium.

The first Test of the series last week was broadcast blackout on television. However, the game was still produced and available to watch on ICC TV through paid subscription.

The Test series between visitors Bangladesh and hosts Windies, which is part of the ICC World Test Championship, will be followed by a three-match Twenty20 international series and as many one-day internationals. The ODIs are however not part of the ICC World Cup Super League.

The issue with the broadcast of the series in the Bangladesh triggered after dispute within the consortium. The consortium is formed by two sports TV channels [Gazi TV and T Sports], four marketing agencies and one sports marketing company – Total Sports Management.

TSM is responsible for buying feed from the host country and sell to the other parties of the consortium in Bangladesh.

It was learnt that the marketing agencies and the broadcasters have been in dispute with TSM over several matters for a long time now and thus decided to boycott purchasing the feed for the West Indies-Bangladesh series.

A similar situation had occurred ahead of Bangladesh’s tour of New Zealand earlier this year.

The consortium then however, was able to put the differences aside a day ahead of the series and the matches were shown live on television.
