Tigers depart for Caribbean

The Bangladesh Test team and management staff for the tour of the West Indies have left Dhaka in four batches.

The first three batches have already reached the Caribbean and Monday evening the last group comprising cricketers in Tamim Iqbal, Mustafizur Rahman, Mehedi Hasan Miraz and others had left the country.

The newly named Bangladesh Test captain Shakib al Hasan however, is scheduled to join the team later.

Shakib is expected to report to the team this Sunday, four days ahead of the first Test scheduled to start in Antigua.

Mustafizur is set to return for Bangladesh in the white outfit through this series.

The left-arm pacer joined the team in Dhaka following his stint in the just concluded Indian Premier League Twenty20.

All-rounder Miraz is also set to make a comeback having recovered from an injured small finger on his right hand picked up during a Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League game in April this year.

Bangladesh will begin the tour with the two Tests.

The second Test is to be played in Saint Lucia from June 24.

The Test series will be followed by a three-match T20I series to be played on July 2, 3 and 7 respectively.

The last phase of the tour contains three ODIs which are not part of the World Cup Super League.

The three 50-over matches will be played on July 10, 13 and 16 respectively.

The members of the Bangladesh ODI and T20I team who are not part of the longer version are scheduled to join the team in the Caribbean in between the Test matches.
