Bangladeshi origin Robin takes field at Lord’s Test

Robin James Das, a Bangladeshi origin English player got a rare opportunity to field for England in their ongoing first Test match against New Zealand at Lord’s Thursday.

On the first day of the Test, England had already used two of their substitute fielders Harry Brook and Craig Overton but when Stuart Broad and Matty Potts also went off the field, they had to deploy two fielders from outside of their 13-man squad.

During that time, the 38th over of the New Zealand Innings, two young Essex men Robin and Nikhil Gorantala took the field as substitutes.

The 20-year old Robin, whose father Mridul Das was born in Sunamganj district of Bangladesh, plays for Essex and was born in Leytonstone on February 27, 2002.
