Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunaratne is aware of the challenge hosts Bangladesh will pose in the first Test match but still eyeing to take a 1-0 lead back to Dhaka.
The wickets seem pretty flat at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in the port city and batsmen will most likely dominate in the first few sessions.
But the Sri Lankan skipper said they are planning out of the box in order to bowl out the opposition twice and produce a result from their crucial first of two encounters, which is part of the World Test Championship.
“It’s flat wicket here in Chittagong, so we have to score big runs to put pressure on the opposition. If you look at the last Test we played here (2018), there were thousands of runs scored. It’s not easy for the bowlers. You have to work hard. Flat wicket will not give that much to the bowlers but if you are smart enough then you can take wickets here,” Karunaratne said during the pre-match press conference Saturday at ZACS.
"So we have to be smart enough to get 20 wickets here. If there is not much in the wicket then we have to think and try something out of the box. That’s what we are planning in this kind of wicket."
