Right-handed opening batsmen Munim Shahriar was rewarded for his form in the just concluded Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 2022 with maiden T20I call up to the national team for the home series against Afghanistan.
Bangladesh Cricket Board Monday announced the squad for the two-match T20I series, scheduled for March 3 and 5 in Mirpur's Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
Opener Munim and middle-order batter Yasir Ali Chowdhury are the two uncapped players in the 14-man squad.
The 23-year old Munim starred for finalist Fortune Barishal with 178 runs in six matches at a strike rate of 152.
Yasir also had an impressive outing for Khulna Tigers, who exited in the Eliminator, scoring 219 runs from 11 matches with a 139.49 strike rate.
The Afghanistan series will begin with the three ODIs with the first match slated for Wednesday in Chittagong's Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
