The Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 2022 is back to Dhaka and set to stage the last phase of league matches at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur Friday and Saturday with teams fighting for the four places in the playoffs.
Only two of the six teams – Foturne Barishal and Comilla Victorians – have confirmed playoff berths.
Sylhet Sunrisers are well out of the race with just one win, leaving the competition for the remaining two spots in the playoffs between Minister Group Dhaka, Khulna Tigers and Chattogram Challengers.
So far, 26 matches have been played in the league phase and four teams have already played nine matches while two teams have played eight games each.
With six wins in nine games and 13 points Barishal are at the top of the table, following Comilla with five victories in eight matches and 11 points.
Dhaka are at No 3 in the points table with nine points from as many games.
At No 4 are Khulna with eight points in eight games followed by Chattogram at No 5 with eight points from nine matches.
The controversial Sylhet are languishing at the bottom with just one win in nine matches.
Dhaka will have a straight entry to the playoffs if they win their last game against Barishal Friday.
If not, the star-studded Dhaka will have to expect Khulna and Chattogram to lose their remaining games.
Khulna have both the matches against a strong Comilla and to move to the next phase of the tournament, they need to win both the games to keep things simple.
In the event of loss in both the games, they will have to pray that Chattogram lose their last game, against Sylhet Saturday.
For Chattogram there is no other option but to win against Sylhet.
