Blistering unbeaten half-centuries from Faf du Plessis and Cameron Delport along with Nahidul Islam’s three-wicket haul helped Comilla Victorians to a hat-trick of wins in the ongoing Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 2022.
The star studded Comilla registered their third win in as many games defeating a troubled Chattogram Challengers by 52 runs in Chittagong's Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium Monday.
Rocked by captaincy row, Chattogram were set to chase 184 runs which Comilla defended with ease and proved the vast difference of strength between the two teams.
Off-spinner Nahidul ruled the roost with three scalps in four overs conceding 17 runs with wickets of opener Kennar Lewis [four], Sabbir Rahman [five] and Mehedi Hasan Miraz [10].
Chattogram once again had opener Will Jacks leading the batting department.
The English right-handed batter picked up his second half century of the tournament putting up a 42-ball 69 laced with seven boundaries and three over boundaries.
The effort however, went in vain as other batters failed to make an impact and eventually choked with 131 runs on the board inside the 18th over.
Earlier, Comilla were asked to bat first but that did not hold them back.
The Victorians made a good start with opener Liton Das scoring 47 off 34.
The innings got boosted with a fiery 83 not out from Du Plessis and an unbeaten 51 by Delport.
Former South African captain Du Plessis, playing his maiden BPL, struck eight fours and three sixes in his 55-ball whirlwind innings while Delport took a toll of the Chattogram bowlers with four boundaries and three over boundaries.
Comilla are now top of the league table while Chattogram slid down to No 2 position with three wins from six games.
