Nazmul returns after surgery

National pacer Nazmul Hossain is expected to reach Dhaka today after undergoing treatment for his injured left knee in Australia. The right-arm pacer, who picked up the injury while bowling in the nets during the Sri Lanka tour in March, underwent surgery under the supervision of Australian surgeon David Young, who has previously operated on Mashrafe bin Mortaza and Tamim Iqbal.   The rehabilitation tenure for the Hobiganj lad was shortened. The Bangladesh Cricket Board chief physiotherapist Dr. Debashish Chowdhury informed that the operation was not a major one as had previously been thought.   “The doctor there didn’t think the ligament surgery to be necessary. We were informed that proper rehabilitation will be enough for Nazmul to get rid of the ligament trouble. It was only the other small issues Dr Young took care of,” informed Dr Debashish to Dhaka Tribune yesterday.   Nazmul did not attend the fitness training camp that started today at Mirpur due to the injury. The paceman will need at least 45 days to recover.
