Shakib Al Hassan and Tamim Iqbal were named in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), as the tournament committee announced the drafted grading of the players into three categories – A, B and C grades – where two of Bangladesh’s top cricketers are named in pool A. For the first time ever, West Indies is going to start the franchisee base tournament, where six teams will compete with 15 players on each side. Antigua, Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, Saint Lucia and Trinidad and Tobago will participate in this inaugural tournament. 14 West Indian and 12 international cricketers were named in pool A, including the star all-rounder, Shakib, dashing opener, Tamim, alongside Pakistan’s Shoaib Malik, Shaun Marsh of Australia and others. Pool B starts with six West Indian cricketers who played international cricket along with 100 local cricketers, while under-23 cricketers will be in pool C. The international cricketers selected as franchisee cricketers are Ross Taylor, Muttiah Muralitharan, Herschelle Gibbs, Adam Gilchrist, Mohammed Hafeez and Ricky Ponting, while Marlon Samuels, Darren Sammy, Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine, Dwayne Bravo and Chris Gayle are in the local franchisee. Each team will take on four cricketers from pool A, seven players from pool B and two from pool C, along with one local franchisee and one international franchisee cicketer. The 24 match inaugural CPL tournament will start from July 30 and the final will take place on August 24.
